Hello, blog. Long time no see. But, that's how I roll. I'm back here to share with you more from this session because I realized something! It bums me out having to pick just one or two images to share from the sessions that I do. Especially ones like this cause, well, just look. How cute is this little mer-baby!? This bebe happened to LOVE her cake which you'd kind of expect. But actually, more often than not, babies don't get all that jazzed about getting their hands covered in thick, sticky frosting. For this reason, I get super lit up over seeing a tiny tot just LOVING diving in and getting messy. I hope you enjoy seeing a little more from this ONE year session and for those of you who like a little drama, I've included a little cake story for ya below. ;) Happy Birthday bebe!! A little Cinderella story about this cake: I always order my smash cakes super simple and embellish them myself. This way I can have control over color and theme. This time I branched out after some encouragement from the cashier that they could handle my order. I was kind of excited to go pick up the cake all ready to go. Instead, what happened was me being handed a cake that looked hilariously UN-like the photo I'd left with my order. I mean, the colors weren't anywhere close. At least not to someone like me who pays a whole lot of attention to color. The silver lining: the cake ended up being free. BUT, I still had a session that evening with no matching cake. I rushed home, looked at my arsenal of cake decorating supplies and wondered how in the world this was going to work. The hot pink, purple, blue and white stripes on the cake were able to be blended into this pale purple and thanks to the 6 yr old celebrity cake baker I live with (and her tremendously tall order of a unicorn cake the week before) I had lots of fancy gold embellishments to use in my cake makeover. Just in time I boxed the cake back up and headed out the door to meet this bebe and her parents at the beach. Lesson learned, simple is ALWAYS best. Really, the fact that she LOVED the cake and really went all in, made the whole debacle worth it. I can't help think of the disaster that would have been the hot pink stained baby face. Smh And because no mermaid session is done without a little magic....
